Adam Wedd & The Independents

Description

Characterised by their unique fusion of meaningful & though-provoking lyrics with catchy pop melodies, Adam Wedd & The Independents’ songs have a fresh sound that will always leave you wanting to hear more. Adam’s unique approach to writing songs comes as a result of several years of honing his craft as a solo singer-songwriter. His lyrics display a well-developed understanding of the human condition, often appearing under the guise of childish optimism and naivety in the lyrics. After having has success as a solo artist, with tracks being sold on iTunes and used in a short film premiered at the Covent Garden Odeon, it was time to establish a full-band line-up to take the project to the next level. Born of this was Adam Wedd & The Independents, with the current line-up coming together in early 2009. Never detracting from the original arrangements written for voice and acoustic guitar, the full-band sound suited the tracks in a natural way that does nothing but complement the original musical ideas behind the tracks. Since forming, the band has continued to create new material, and are incorporating an increasingly diverse range of sounds into both their live shows and studio recordings, including a cello, mandolin, glockenspiel and ukulele. Adam Wedd & The Independents’ shows are attracting increasingly large audiences, with numerous dates having been played in and around London, including a headline slot at 93 Feet East, Brick Lane, and upcoming shows in cities around the UK including slots at numerous Summer festivals. All the while they are gaining increased press coverage, with a recent article in a number of newspapers across Surrey, and interest from several radio stations. As a result Adam Wedd & The Independents have an ever expanding and devoted fan-base, and are receiving an ever increasing amount of interest from the industry. What the band say: With the eager anticipation of the release of our debut single ‘The Differences We Display’ on the 19th June, and our follow up single ‘Left and Right’ later on this Summer, the coming months are looking very exciting for us, and we’d love you to be a part of that. What the industry say: "...led by Adam and followed [by] his excellently punned Independents. Cracked, emotional, wistful songs that will keep you warm of an evening." "For such tender years, he displayed a discerning understanding of the human condition, tackling themes of mortality, solitude and anxiety. And through that genuine, heart-felt delivery, you couldn’t help but feel there was more than just a shade of poet about him." Dominic Mills + Gill Mills – Best of myspace BBC "Skipping along like someone who’s just passed their driving test, [The Differences We Display] has all the happy tickles of The Kooks or Noah and the Whale. But without the annoying tweeness. Complete with the best violin bits since The Bluebells’ “Young At Heart.”" - Overplay.com "The multilayed nature of their music is something fresh and unique... Safe Place, Differences & Everything Is Not OK are stand outs and give you the slightest glimpse into how big these guys are going to get." The New Current
